“Equilibrio” opens at the Community Artists’ Collective.

Artists Nela Garzόn, Veronica Gaona and Delilah Montoya are among the artists featured in the group show, which is curated by Tina Hernandez and is in collaboration with MantecaHTX’s open call.

MantecaHTX, a program of Nuestra Palabra’s cultural acceleration program, is a new artist registry open to Houston-area Latinx artists practicing in all disciplines. The Collective’s art exhibition coincides with the Latino Art Now! Conference at the University of Houston April 4-9.

The opening reception on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. includes light bites, refreshments and poetry by Deecolonize, writer/editor/poet. The exhibition runs through Saturday, April 20. Participating artists will discuss Latinx experiences through art on the closing day from 1 to 3 p.m. All events are free.
