Folk Rock

Over the past decade, audiences members have shared with us their own interpretations of what constitutes folk music.

Composer/performer Pamela Z crystallized this fascinating inquiry and offers her take on folk music, with a new work inspired by American 1960’s/70’s folk rock. Steven Snowden’s ‘Appalachian Polaroids’ offers a juxtaposed look at the DNA of American and Appalachian roots music, a work inspired by photographs of remote mountain communities in Appalachia.

In addition to two performances of this program, we offer a first ever ApolloLab – an informal, behind-the-scenes look at the composer and new commission.
