Midtown restaurants serving up Thanksgiving Day feasts

With Thanksgiving Day right around the corner, some Midtown Houston restaurants are offering special menus or buffets to help you forego the headache of meal planning and preparation.

While many restaurants are closed for Thanksgiving, eateries like Charivari Restaurant at 2521 Bagby St. is laying out a feast for kings and queens. Customers are encouraged to create their own menu from a selection that includes pan fried foie gras, broiled turkey with stuffing, Airline Pheasant Breast, lobster and salmon fillets, and savory desserts. Likewise, Artisans Cuisine & Savoir-fare at 3201 Louisiana is offering up a Thanksgiving feast and exquisite Twist on the Classics prepared by Chef Jacques Fox.

“We will do special six-course dinner menu, where we have fun and do something different,” said Fox. “We combine a little bit of Thanksgiving with a French twist to celebrate your holidays with panache.

Meanwhile, Midtown BBQ is ready to cook your turkey for you. The popular eatery at 2708 Bagby also has a wide variety of country-style cooked meats from which to choose. Rebecca Masson, owner of Fluff Bake Bar at 314 Gray St., said the popular bakery is busy taking orders for the holiday.

“If you’re looking for sweets for Thanksgiving Day, we’re a great place to stop by,” she said. “We’ve got a wide selection of pies – apple, pecan, chocolate crème, Dutch apple and pumpkin and Mountain Rose Apple.”

The bakery will be closed on Thanksgiving, but is taking pre-orders for baked goodies. Customers may order online, or call 713-522-1900. Pre-orders may also be sent via email.

Another Midtown sweet spot is Weights + Measures Bake Shop at 2808 Caroline, which is offering up a Thanksgiving menu of special pies to complete your holiday meal.

“Our 9-inch pies serve eight guests,” said Isaac Johnson, the bakery general manager. “They are made entirely from scratch with lots of love in our very own dough room.”

The Weights + Measures holiday selections include wild turkey bourbon chocolate pecan pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin pecan pie, apricot pistachio bread pudding, sweet potato soufflé, Max’s Famous Carrot Cake, jalapeño cheese cornbread, w+m cranberry sauce, and pull apart challah rolls.

And be sure to stop by Dolce Delights by Candice Chang at 3201 Louisiana, which serves up some of the most beautiful and exquisite desserts in the city – everything from mousse cakes to colorful macarons available in just about every flavor imaginable.
