Danza Espectacular!

Enjoy the holiday season with the exciting Danza Espectacular! – a celebration of dances and music from around the world. Featuring: Danza Azteca Aquetzalli, Maria Fernandez Urbaez, Danmar, Intempo Dance, and the world premiere of Alexis Zanety’s Suite Ecl?ctico. Known for his creative ability in multiple styles and genres, Zanety’s new work brings us Neoclassical to Cuban Modern to Afro-Cuban Folklore and more, in one program. Dancers for this work include Alfonso Alarc?n, Reinaldo Costa, Alessia Braggiato, and Alexander Alvarez and Lisandro Neris – the latter two, members of Bay Area Houston Ballet and Theater directed by Nelson Madrigal. Also featured in Zanety’s work are musicians Eddy Marcano (violin), Marlon Flores (cello) and Paul Boyd (piano) performing music of Astor Piazzolla and Grant Still.

Former principal at Danza Nacional de Cuba, award winning, and internationally celebrated choreographer, Alexis Zanety is our special guest artist for this installment of Foundation for Modern Music Series’ Music That Should be Danced.
