Anthems and Voluntaries

Sam Houston State University’s Early Music Ensemble will make its Houston debut at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m., in a free concert of music by Henry Purcell. The group is lead by Dr. Mario Aschauer, director of SHSU’s Center for Early Music Research and Performance.

The program includes the Funeral Music for Queen Mary II and other popular favorites such as “O Clap Your Hands Together, All Ye People,” along with more rarely performed jewels from Purcell’s rich sacred oeuvre.
