Dunhuang Inspired: An Evening with Composer Tan Dun

Enjoy this rare opportunity to hear Academy Award-winning composer Tan Dun (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) discuss his creative process as a musician and composer, as well as a musical performance featuring inspirations and demonstrations of his research.

Following years of research into the Mogao Caves and the Dunhuang murals from the 4th-14th centuries, Tan Dun composed oratorio Buddha Passion, weaving chants, stories, and sounds that have lived in the hearts of the Eastern World for thousands of years. Buddha Passion awaits its U.S. premiere in Los Angeles in February.
