Environmental art workshop by Gail Mebane

Environmental artist Gail Mebane, whose exhibit “The Unfolding Story of POLŪTNOT” is currently on display at the Community Artists’ Collective will share her techniques.

Participants should bring at least one clean plastic bag to the workshop, where they will gain experience working with POLŪTNOT, an innovative alternative to canvas and paper, with a variety of media including acrylic, water color, permanent markers, crayons, alcohol inks and oil pastels.  Artists are also welcome to bring their own favorite media.

Individuals participating in the workshop will be encouraged to share their completed work by contributing the pieces to a POLŪTNOT patchwork quilt that will be displayed at The Collective during the Houston International Quilt Festival.

The workshop is free, but reservations are encouraged because space is limited.  Register on Eventbrite, email mbarnes@thecollective.org or call 713.523.1616.

A closing reception for the exhibition will be held Friday, October 13th, from 6pm to 8pm.
