Klezmer Night! at MATCH by Mercury Chamber Orchestra
Foot tapping rhythms – centuries of tradition
It’ll be hard to keep your foot from tapping as you experience the irrepressible spirit and fun of the incredible, centuries-old folk traditions of Klezmer. This performance features Airat Ichmouratov, a lauded clarinetist, composer, and guide for this journey through a musical style that has existed since the Middle Ages and has evolved as cultures and peoples mixed.
It’s all part of our Neighborhood series – short, casual concerts held in unique spaces across Houston. Take in this beautiful music while surrounded by lush paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts; or lit by stained glass radiance at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church; or over delicious comfort food meals at the Dosey Doe.
This concert is made possible in part by the Houston Endowment, the Brown Foundation, the Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts, the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance, and by supporters like you.
